Bub McCool Romps To $5k Payday At Duck River By Ben Shelton
Vicksburg, MS Sep 07, 2008 - Bub McCool had a busy Labor Day weekend behind the wheel of his #57j Trakstar/Barker Racing Engine Super Late Model, and his efforts paid off as he picked up a $5,000 win along the way.
McCool Motorsports set out to compete in three events over the Labor Day
weekend with the action kicking off on Friday night at Duck River Speedway
in Wheel, Tennessee with the Southern Regional Racing Series Super Late
Model tour. Bub started 6th in the feature event, and early in the race, he
would rocket his way to the lead. Once at the point, McCool would never
look back en route to the $5,000 win. The win marked McCool's sixth win of
the 2008 season.
On Saturday, the team followed the Southern Regional Racing Series tour to
Thunderhill Speedway in Summertown, Tennessee. Bub would have another
strong qualifying effort and ultimately finished in the 3rd spot in the
feature event.
McCool entered the Labor Day Bash 40 at North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia,
Alabama on Sunday night. Bub qualified fourth in his group and started 7th
in the feature event. By lap seven, Bub was already up to the third position
and began pressuring the second place runner as McCool committed to the low
side of the clay oval. On lap 17, things would turn bad for McCool when a
broken lift arm on caused his car to make a strong right in turns three and
four. A couple of cars, left with nowhere to go, piled into the back of
McCool bringing his night to an end. Despite once again having bad luck at
North Alabama, overall it was a great weekend for McCool Motorsports, and
the team is feeling confident heading into the late year special events.
McCool Motorsports will take this weekend off to repair their primary car
from last weekend's damage. Bub is set to return to action on Saturday,
September 13th at Jackson Motor Speedway in Byram, Mississippi in the $5,000
to win, 14th Annual Ival Cooper Memorial. For more information on the
