ELM MOTT, TX Sep 04, 2008 - Mike Herring from Flower Mound took over the lead in the last lap to win the Sprint Series of Texas feature Sunday night at the Heart O' Texas Speedway. Jerry Hammock from Waxahachie placed second, and Matt Brooks from Mesquite crossed the finish line in third.
John Heffelfinger from Waco won a close street stock feature over Greg Andrews from Waco and Tommy Kirkpatrick from Elm Mott.
Mike Watkins from held of fellow Wacoan Timmy Kemp, Jeffrey Shepperd, and David
Andrews for the pure stock win in another close race.
Jeff Williams from Waco took the checkered flag ahead of William Dean from Elm Mott and Jr. Jean from Blum in the cruiser feature.
Visiting junior mini stock, Chris Miller, from Kaufman, won the feature race over China Spring drivers, Garret Rawls and Jordan Kornegay.
The Speedway will be hosting three days of IMCA Southern SportMod Nationals staring with a practice session from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. on Thursday, September 4. Friday, September 5, will be a regular race program for street stocks, pure stocks, cruisers, and junior mini stocks along with heats, B-features, and a qualifying A-feature for the SportMods. Saturday, September 6, will include heats, B-features, and the Championship feature for the SportMods, the Race of Champions for the top drivers in point standings at tracks having at least 10 sanctioned events this season, and heat and features for Brazos mini sprints and Texas Wing Modifieds.
