Jamestown Speedway Doubleheader By JOANNE DIETERLE
JAMESTOWN, ND Sep 04, 2008 - There were several constants at the WISSOTA Street Stock Special at Jamestown Speedway over the Labor Day weekend: great racing, sunshine and wind. The wind was unrelenting and made outdoor activities unpleasant at times but the track crew did a great job of keeping the racing surface in good shape and the racers came through with awesome shows.
Two days of $1000 to win shows for the WISSOTA Street Stocks drew 32 cars each
night. Kelly Hagel of Carrington took the lead on lap 4 of Saturday night's feature and held off Luke Nelson and Spencer Johnson for the big win. Nelson reversed the roles Sunday night as he took the lead from Hagel on lap 10 and held on for the win. Hagel finished second with Johnson third.
Mark Trautner of Mahnomen, MN started in the 5th position for the Saturday night WISSOTA Modified feature but finished first. On Sunday night, he finished second behind Mike Stearns of Hecla, SD. Stearns went flag to flag in claiming his second feature of the season at Jamestown Speedway.
Randy Klein topped a large field of WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds on Saturday night
after an 11th place start. Eric Edwards led early and Jayson Corell led the middle laps but it was all Klein the second half of the race. Corell finished second followed by Bobby Eckerdt and Jerry Theis.
Jason Grimes climbed back into his old car Sunday night and went flag to flag to win the WISSOTA Midwest Modified feature. Rusty Kollman finished second in Kelly Hagel's car.
Corey Jacobson went flag to flag to win the Bomber feature on Saturday night and Justin Schempp was the winner Sunday night.
